Classes

Something for everyone!

Schedules and Registration

Class sessions are scheduled each fall (October–December) and winter (January–March).   Topics are offered on a rotating basis, depending on membership interest.   All classes are held in the Pueblo Room at the Kuentz Recreation Center.  A supply list for the class is provided at registration.

Registration for fall classes  is usually held in September.  Registration for winter classes  is usually held in January.  Class sessions are 2 hours in length, once a week. The cost varies with the length of the class.

Please note that classes are for Artistic Hand Lettering Cards and Mixed Media members.  If you are a resident of Sun City West, you can join the club on the day of registration; at that time you will pay the membership fee plus the class cost.  Please remember to bring your SCW recreation card with you on that day.

Hand Lettering

Calligraphy is defined as “beautiful writing” and each style of lettering is known as a “hand.”    For many people, Italic is the most familiar hand.  The club is able to offer classes in the following calligraphy hands:

  • Foundational Calligraphy

  • Italic Calligraphy

  • Modern Calligraphy
